Shroomy

Shroomy is Poppy's Breloom, and the second she acquired during the Neo-Sinnoh Arc.

Personality

Mild-mannered, Shroomy goes about his own way. He is friendly, and doesn't like those who are not friendly. He leaps into action to protect those he cares about, and stands up to enemies much bigger than him. He aspires to be stronger so he can protect people and fight off enemies more efficiently, and he is full of surprises. He also sort of 'parents' the other team members, acting as a dad to them - which can get him overwhelmed.

Backstory

Shroomy lived in the Safari Zone for a while, until one day when a Donphan going on a rampage forced him to leave. Living in the wild for some time, he was inspired by Poppy's display of courage to protect the Zone, which led him to join her team. Otherwise, not much else is known about his backstory.

Battle Strategy

Shroomy's favorite opener in battle is to hit the opponent with either a Spore or Leech Seed. Then, he'll maybe fire off a Seed Bomb or two, or hit the opponent with the other opening move he didn't use at the start of the battle. When it comes to physical attack, he hits his opponents with Headbutt. If he is inflicted with a status condition, however, he will start to panic - unless he's inflicted with poison, which, thanks to his Poison Heal ability, actually heals him.

Relationships

• Poppy: Shroomy treats Poppy as a respectable trainer, and feels he can trust her no matter what.
• Donut: The two have begun repairing their relationship.
• Sunrise: The two get along rather well as he knows she's a teammate that won't treat him like garbage, and he goes along with her ideas.
• Crusher: Due to him being the little scared kid of the team, Shroomy looks out for Crusher.
• Nessa: He would parent Nessa, but Donut already does that for him. So instead, he treats her as simply a friend.
• Stormwind: Shroomy is often exasperated by Stormwind's ego and often-occurring delusions of grandeur.
• Lila: Due to them being both Grass types, Shroomy tries to get Lila to see him as a good example for her to follow. Lila, however, is not interested in acting like him.

Trivia

• As jointly decided on by ThunderKitty and Goldenheart388, Shroomy’s character theme is “Vienna” by Billy Joel. The song details Shroomy’s nature as a mild-mannered parental figure to the rest of the group, particularly with regards to Poppy, Stormwind, Sunrise, pre-backstory reveal Donut, and to an extent Nessa (“Dream on but don’t imagine they’ll all come true”, a line that ultimately serves as a warning moreso than anything else given what happens to Nessa after Donut’s backstory is revealed).
