Bitey is Ingrid Anderson's Trapinch, and the sixth Pokemon she acquired on her journey, as well as the last member of the original "A*Team" to be captured.

Personality

As his name implies, Bitey has an immense love of food to the point of nigh-obsession. He will eat just about everything under the sun that is considered to be "food", and loves just about everything he eats, though according to Goldenheart388 his favorite foods are chocolate and marmalade (the latter likely being a reference to the Flygon of the same name). However, he is also very much prone to biting things that aren't food, such as steel bars, barbed wire, batteries (he's immune to Electricity), and so forth. He even enjoys biting Ingrid's head in affection, though she's not particularly annoyed by it. However, his gluttony, as his Hasslemon handle suggests, can also be his downfall at times and get him into a bit of trouble, as he has a tendency to think that Pokemon are food and also to get distracted by food in the midst of battle. This was shown during his battle against Toshiko, during which he proceeded to bite Toshiko's head because he thought she was a rice ball. While he has tried to get the thought of food out of his mind multiple times, he always keeps coming back to it, which has led to very humorous scenes.

Bitey, as his nature suggests, is also very naive, childish, and simple-minded. He's very airheaded as well, often not knowing what certain things are and not being able to understand complex behavior very well. Despite this, however, he is very sweet and energetic, often having fun during battles and using Dig to play tag games with the rest of Ingrid's team- and even with his opponents, as seen during his battle with Toshiko. Unfortunately, Bitey often doesn't know just how strong he actually is- he has a tendency to jump up and down with excitement and happiness, but often ends up accidentally using Bulldoze or Earthquake in the process, since Trapinch have the same base attack stat as Flygon. While in battle, this works to his advantage, when Bitey is not in battle, this tendency often ends up annoying his friends as well as Ingrid. This naturally ends up confusing and saddening Bitey, who doesn't understand what he did wrong and ends up thinking that his friends and Trainer hate him because of it (despite this not often being the case). He is also extremely sensitive because of it, maybe even more so than Agnetha, but he is far from shy and enjoys having fun and playing with his friends (especially Ananpi, the only one not annoyed by his tendency to accidentally Bulldoze the area around him). Bitey often views battles as fun games in and of themselves, often apologizing for using Earthquake or Bulldoze. He enjoys playing "tag" and having "mud fights" in the midst of battle (actually his Dig move and his Mud Shot move, respectively), and as usual has a tendency to underestimate his own strength- upon beating Toshiko and winning the battle for Ingrid, Bitey first apologized for defeating Toshiko, and then proceeded to ask if he had won a game when Ingrid and Ananpi congratulated him on winning the battle.

Bitey is often seen carrying an Everstone, which he owns because he thought it was food.

Trivia

  • Bitey's name is derived from his love of food, his massive jaws, and his tendency to bite things (including Ingrid's head).
  • According to Goldenheart388, Bitey's Hasslemon handle is gluttonousWaterloo (GW). The handle serves as a reference to Bitey's love of food and how he is unable to control himself around it, while also serving as a pun on the ABBA song "Waterloo"- which, ironically, is Bjorn's character theme.
  • According to Goldenheart388, Bitey's character theme is "Mamma Mia" by ABBA. While the original song appears to be about a woman trying to stay committed despite a terrible relationship (the very first line of the song is "I've been cheated by you since I don't know when"), Bitey's interpretation, according to Goldenheart388, is that the song is sung in relation to his love of food, his inability to control his appetite despite numerous attempts to do so, and his saddened feelings towards his friends' reaction to his behaviors of accidentally causing Earthquakes when jumping.
