Boseman is Kimberly Bond's Litwick, and the sixteenth (and latest) Pokemon that Kim caught on her journey, as well as the eleventh (and latest) Pokemon that she caught in the Galar region.

Personality

As Boseman is named after the late Chadwick Boseman, he shares a lot of personality traits with that of his namesake's most famous role, T'Challa from Black Panther/Ebony Liepard. He is a rather intuitive Pokemon, and shows great admiration towards the strength and determination of others, which was made very apparent during his debut appearance. Peechee was his first view of Kim's team, and he became so awestruck by his raw power that he followed Kim into the Motostoke Stadium, in a similar regard to Dalt. Boseman also shows great interest in learning more about the bonds between people and Pokemon, and studies battle strategies and tactics very closely; upon seeing Geddy and Freddie evolving at the same time, he deduced correctly that the two of them must have a very strong bond and soon grew to admire Kim as a Trainer. Boseman has also shown himself to be a rather stoic and serious Pokemon, and while he is capable of showing other emotions, they tend to be relatively subdued. He also has a strong sense of justice, in a similar regard to Ozzy, and refuses to give up in battle, even when things look particularly dire-- if he's hit by a supereffective move, you can expect him to cry out "YIBAMBE!" (hold fast) a few seconds later. In his New Year's Eve battle against Hanuman, he also showed himself to be a rather intelligent and strategic battler, similarly again to Ozzy, while also showing a sort of trickster side. His main strategy in battle involves him using a combination of Confuse Ray and Hex to hit a Pokemon for double damage; if the Pokemon is not Fire-type he will also employ Will O'Wisp in his battles.

Boseman has a thick African accent, also similar to T'Challa.

Kim's personality file on him reads as follows:

NEW POKEMON CAUGHT: BOSEMAN THE LITWICK. I'VE BEEN WITH HIM FOR ONLY A SHORT TIME BUT I'VE ACTUALLY GATHERED A LOT OF INFORMATION REGARDING HIS PERSONALITY. GIVEN THAT HE FOLLOWED ME BECAUSE OF PEECHEE, I CAN ASSUME HE ADMIRES THE STRENGTH OF POKEMON AND THEIR SKILL IN BATTLE. HE IS RATHER STOIC AND CHIVALROUS AND DOES NOT REALLY SHOW THAT MUCH EMOTION. IN MANY WAYS, HE IS VERY SIMILAR TO EBONY LIEPARD HIMSELF— HENCE WHY I NAMED HIM AFTER THE GREAT CHADWICK BOSEMAN. MAY HE REST IN PEACE FOREVERMORE. INCIDENTALLY, HE HAS AN AFRICAN ACCENT MUCH LIKE T'CHALLA. EVEN MORE FITTING, THEN. WAKANDA FOREVER!

Trivia

  • Boseman was named after Chadwick Boseman, the actor who played Black Panther in the MCU, due to his Ghost typing (Boseman tragically passed away at the age of 43), perseverance, and the purple-colored motifs that show up throughout the Litwick evolution line (the Black Panther uniform contains a lot of purple on it as a result of Vibranium); incidentally, it could also be a pun on his species ("Chadwick", as in Litwick). He is the third member of Kim's team, after Orwell and Peechee, to not be named after a musician.
  • Boseman's chat handle is ikhandela (Xhosa for candle), and his Hasslemon handle, according to Goldenheart388, is unovaForever (UF), a pun on the phrase "Wakanda Forever", used in the Black Panther movie and in the MCU.
  • According to Goldenheart388, Boseman's character theme is "Never Break" by John Legend (a song heavily associated with Chadwick Boseman due to its appearance in the 20/20 television memorial special that aired after his passing), and his Broadway character theme is "He Lives in You" from The Lion King.
