Freddie is Kimberly Bond's Inteleon, and the seventh Pokemon she acquired on her journey, as well as her second Pokemon that she caught in the Galar region.

Personality

Freddie is timid, shy, and panicky- but more panicky than probably even a regular Sobble. Just about everything scares him, whether it be thunder and lightning, scary Pokemon, or even the idea of being caught by a Trainer. He's so terrified of the world around him that the vast majority of his time on-screen is spent either bawling his eyes out, shaking, or having full-blown panic attacks, which is very, very often. However, he does have two fellow teammates he can turn to for comfort: Elton, who is his partner and main cheerleader, and Geddy, who serves as his primary caretaker, comforting him whenever anything scares him. Much like other members of his species, Freddie is often seen crying, but doesn't seem to know he has camouflage powers yet. Freddie is also very self-conscious of himself, often lamenting his lack of confidence and obsessing over his flaws. He can sometimes be worried that other people and Pokemon don't like him, largely due to his shyness and his grippers, which as a Sobble were noticeably smaller than those of the other members of his species. Due to this, he has a desperate desire to be loved by people. Despite his timidity, however, Freddie is still a caring and kindhearted Pokemon who does care about his friends and fellow teammates, as seen in the Slumbering Weald when he didn't hesitate to raise his tail up in front of Geddy and Elton to protect them from the killer Scorbunny- even though he was absolutely terrified. In fact, the very thought of battling other Pokemon freaks him out, despite Elton encouraging him to try and battle other Pokemon. However, this doesn't mean he won't battle when push comes to shove- his first "official" move was used in the Slumbering Weald against the killer Scorbunny when it attacked Gail and Pandora. Notably, right before he let loose the attack- a Water Gun of tears straight from his eyes- he profusely apologized to the killer Scorbunny. Later on, in his first official battle against Kabu, he sent multiple attacks directly at Kabu's Ninetales, all the while profusely apologizing for doing so.

After his evolution into a Drizzile, Freddie's personality both did and didn't change all that much. He was still fragile, self-conscious of his appearance, and cried a lot- more so than other Drizzile, in fact. However, he didn't cry as much as he did when he was a Sobble, his panic and fear instead manifesting more often than not in the form of motor-mouthed, long-winded speeches which very often ended up leading to panic attacks, as they did during his visit to Orochi Plaza. Freddie also seemed to have become more intelligent and self-aware-- he referenced the fact that Drizzile can create water balloons from their palms as a reason for him looking like an "abomination", and also was able to plan out his movesets based solely on seeing what the other Pokemon's moves were and going from there, which was something he used to great effect in his battle against Ninetales. In battle, while Freddie was far more confident in his abilities than he was as a Sobble, he still had a great disdain for hurting other Pokemon and especially for seeing them faint-- after he knocked out Kabu's Ninetales he became convinced that he had somehow accidentally killed her and ran to hide. His main battle strategy, in fact, is to avoid attacks by using his Safeguard bubble as a hamster wheel and rolling around in it so fast that the opponent's attacks keep missing. This especially applies to supereffective moves. He also became even more self-conscious of his appearance: while as a Sobble he just had smaller grippers, as a Drizzile he retained those grippers, which are now the same green color as a normal Drizzile's mittens; this condition has been confirmed by Goldenheart388 to be the Pokemon equivalent of ectrodactyly. The presence of these grippers led Freddie to become even more self-conscious than usual, believing himself to be an abomination and refusing to let anyone see his grippers. He would often hide his grippers to prevent anyone from seeing them, and often freaked out when other Pokemon saw them. However, during the battle against Marnie's Liepard in Spikemuth, after being called a "cripple" by said Liepard, Freddie demonstrated another aspect of himself-- his internal courage. He tearfully called out the Liepard for her statement that nobody would love him for who he was, and cited Elton and Kim as examples, before eventually stating that if they were able to love him for who he was, then he should be able to love himself. This realization ultimately led to him evolving into an Inteleon-- much to the delight of Elton.

By the time Freddie is an Inteleon, his panphobia is effectively gone, but much of his personality isn't. He's learned to identify what is and what isn't a real threat, and has started to love himself for who he is and recognize that his friends do love him despite his differences. However, he is still very much prone to anxiety and panic attacks and is still afraid of some things, most notably the thought of his friends getting hurt (or scary Pokemon). He is also far more frantic than he is a crybaby, and will often go off on motor-mouthed speeches leading more often than not to panic attacks. He is perpetually worried about his friends and even his opponents- as was shown mere minutes after his evolution, when he walked up to Marnie's Liepard (who had just called him a cripple) and nervously asked her if she was dead. His reaction, when she confirmed to him that he wasn't, was a sigh of relief. Freddie is still extremely fragile and sensitive, usually going into panic attacks or fits of crying whenever he witnesses a heavy conflict, but is also sensitive in regards to happiness as well- he cried tears of joy upon finally evolving into an Inteleon, and thanked Elton for having always believed in him from the start. He is now fully willing to participate in battle, but rarely, if ever, uses his signature move Snipe Shot, due to it being too similar to a real gun for his liking. He notably apologized when using the move for the first time on Marnie's Liepard, showing that his apologetic attacker tendencies from when he was a Sobble have still remained even as an Inteleon. Instead, he still mainly prefers to use his other Water-type moves (and his Safeguard strategy) in the heat of battle, and only uses Snipe Shot as an absolute last resort. As an Inteleon, Freddie still retains his trademark Sobble grippers, rather than the humanlike hands that most Inteleon have. While he is still confused as to why he has them, he no longer seems to view himself as an abomination unlike he did when he was a Drizzile, as he now realizes that other people and Pokemon don't think of himself that way. He also retains his wide-open eyes and perpetually nervous and shy expression that he did as a Drizzile, rather than the perpetual half-lidded expression and false yellow eyelids (that are actually part of an Inteleon's eyes) that most Inteleon have.

Kim's personality file on him reads as follows:

"NEW POKEMON CAUGHT: FREDDIE THE SOBBLE. VERY PANICKY AND EXTREMELY FRAGILE. AFRAID OF JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING, INCLUDING BATTLES, WEDDINGS, WILD POKEMON, AND LIKELY EVOLUTION. HE IS ELTON'S FOIL, AND APPEARS TO HAVE A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH GEDDY. FIGURES; THEIR NAMES RHYME. CRIES VERY OFTEN, AND IS NOT VERY CONFIDENT IN HIMSELF. PART OF ME WANTS TO SEE HIM GET MORE CONFIDENT, AND YET ALSO SOME PART OF ME WANTS TO SEE HIM STAY AS THE SHY AND ADORABLE CINNAMON ROLL THAT HE IS EVEN AS AN INTELEON. ALSO, I ONLY JUST NOW NOTICED THAT HIS CHAMELEON GRIPPERS ARE SMALLER THAN THOSE OF A REGULAR SOBBLE'S. I WON'T SAY ANYTHING, OF COURSE."

Trivia

  • Freddie was named after Freddie Mercury, lead singer of Queen, due to a love of their music and due to being a foil to Elton, who was named after Elton John (Mercury and John were two of the biggest gay rock stars of the '70's and '80's, and their respective biopic movies, Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, were released within a year of each other).
  • Freddie's chat handle is bismill-WAAAAAAAH, a reference to the "Bismillah!" line in Queen's song "Bohemian Rhapsody", as well as a reference to Freddie's continual habit of crying in fear whenever something scares him. He types in all lowercase letters and usually punctuates the ends of his sentences with two semicolons next to each other, resembling a crying face (;;). His Hasslemon handle, according to Goldenheart388, is scaredyBohemian (SB), with the "Bohemian" part being a reference to the Queen song "Bohemian Rhapsody". He retains the same typing quirk.
  • According to Goldenheart388, Freddie's character theme is "Somebody to Love" by Queen, his Broadway character theme is "Being Alive" from Company, and his headcanon voice in all three of his forms is Toby Jones as Dobby from the Harry Potter series.
  • According to Goldenheart388, Freddie's chameleon grippers, in his human form, are represented as malformed two-fingered hands, implying that the defect that Freddie has is the Pokemon world's equivalent of ectrodactyly.
