Background

Jason Maxwell lived a normal life growing up in the Johto Region's Goldenrod City. In fact he had been studying to be a Gym trainer with Grim, a Hoothoot he had received for his 7th birthday. However, tragedy soon turned his peaceful life on its head.

One day, a representative of the Fiore Ranger Union appeared on the Maxwell's doorstep, bearing two items. The first was a broken Capture Styler, his father's. The second was Ragna, his father's partner Pokemon. They were told only that Johnathan Maxwell had met his end in an accident, a rockslide to be precise. The family was devastated. Soon after the Jason withdrew from training and the family packed up to move to Sinnoh's Jubilife City, where his mother, Joleane, gained a job as a news reporter.

As the years wore on, a single question persisted in his head, "Why did Dad die?" This very question drove him to leave home on a journey on his 18th birthday, despite his mother's protests. He spent a few months in the Fiore Region, where he discovered his father had perished in Lyra Forest, where rock slides were uncommon. This raised more questions as he traveled throughout the Ranger regions and onto Kalos, where he met up with members of the J-Team in Snowbelle City.

Relationships

• Considers Pana his sister, so that he can continue to be with her and protect her. She has not been seen in a long time, however.
• Had a one-sided rivalry with Duke, though now he sees him more as someone to look up to, like a teacher.
• Is friends with Super Nerd after they battled and has helped him on multiple occasions.
• Considers Diane a good friend and occasional voice of reason. He has even given her a nickname, Star.
• He reeeeeeeealy doesn't like Simon, the feeling is mutual. Simon pretty thoroughly hates Jason.
• He considers Sarah to be one of his best and closest friends. He has a one-sided crush on her, but has resolved to not let it get in the way of their friendship.
• Due to his father working in Fiore as a ranger, he and Queenie are childhood friends. They dated for a short time, though Jason ended it. They still remain close friends, supporting each other.
• Jason is dating Belinda, Simon's older sister of five minutes. This infuriates Simon to no end.
• Considers Blitz to be his best friend.
• Morgan looks up to him like a big brother. They are in fact somewhat distant cousins.

Blue Emperor

On occasion Jason tries his hand at crime fighting, going by the name "Blue Emperor". While doing so he wears a blue bodysuit styled like a tux and an oblong helmet with an Empoleon trident on the front.

Trivia

• Jason is very interested in Auric Constructs, and quite good at making them too.
• He seems to have an adverse reaction to a Heart of Gold's Empathetic voice.
• One ability of his is Telepathic Broadcasting with Aura, allowing him to talk to others within a certain radius both vocally and telepathically.
• Jason's last name, Maxwell, as well as four of his mons: Undine, Sylph, Gnome, and Efreet, are all references to the similarly named summon spirits from the "Tales of" franchise of video games.
• Much like his IRL counterpart, Jason can play a little piano.
• Has the superhero alias of the Blue Emperor. His team consists of a shiny Tropius, a Doublade, a Cherrim, and a Heracross. They are named Decade, Double, Gaim, and Kabuto respectively after various Kamen Riders.
