The Alakagross Civilization, also known as the Alakagross Precursors, were an idea borrowed from Umbra's fic Poke-Dwemer a society of Abra and Beldum line members who formed civilizations predating humanity's, beating them (and other mons) to the punch by virtue of their sheer intelligence. However, the civilization was destroyed by the Legendaries when a civil war led one side to attempt to activate the Mt. Pyre Caldera. Chrome is one of the few survivors.

Technology

The Alakagross were keepers of highly advanced technology, including the airships used during the Draconic Uprising and the golem Numidium, all made using Deep Alloy. Most if not all Alakagross technology seems to have an incredible resistance to wear and tear, with automatons such as their Centurions working as if they were brand new despite having being hundreds of thousands of years old.

Glitchstuck Wars reveals that they were capable of interstellar travel, but for the most part appeared to stick to their home planet.

History

Origins

While it's unclear when exactly the Alakagross Civilization came into being, it was at least sometime more than 150,000 years ago when the Alakazam and Metagross decided to unite on the basis of their sheer intellect, and over time spread across the world, including places where the Abra and Beldum lines cannot be found today.

Despite being part of a cosmopolitan civilization, the Alakagross were far from homogenous, having different nations and factions, and while most were mixed between Beldum and Abra line members, others varied in their exact composition. Some of these factions would war amongst themselves, with the Alakagross Civil War being the most destructive, and the one that would lead to their purging by the legendaries.

One of their most enduring rivals were the Shadowlanders, a civilization of Ghost and Dark-types who had once captured the then Alakagross capital (Located at what would later become the site of Slateport City) and altered the Crystal Stars to only take Obscuric output, before the Alakagross regrouped and used the Stars to seal most of them within their own city for the next 100,000 years.

Settlements

The primary Alakagross surface settlement consisted of large geodesic domes with a passing resemblance to the [EPCOT] sphere. Their other primary settlements consisted of cities built into mountains and deep underground.

Views on Humans

The Alakagross mostly tended to mostly pay humans no mind, viewing them with either indifference or contempt, but would use Aura-sensitive human slaves known as Aura Hounds to search for unclaimed Aura Nexuses and/or other tasks deemed too dangerous or impossible for Abra and Beldum Line members to do. They would also from time to time use human Aurics in bloodsport and Auric experimentation deemed too risky for Abra and Beldum line members.

It was their callous views on humans that were another factor in the legendaries deciding to purge the empire.

Remains and Remnants

Due to the legendaries scouring of their surface cities, and their subsequent scraping by glaciers, inundation during interglacials for the more low-lying, or other environmental forces over the following millennia, the majority of Alakagross facilities are located either underground, within mountain ranges, and/or in extremely isolated places. These include:

  • Blackreach, a facility located in a massive cavern deep underneath northern Sinnoh.
  • Chrome Town, a settlement in PMD-B Sinnoh formed from the ruins of an Alakagross city that were revealed in a landslide.
  • There is a Alakagross ruin a short distance from the Tree of Beginning in Rota.
  • The X-Nauts are an Alakagross offshoot who sought to regain their civilization's old glories.
  • An old airship refinery in the [Crozet Islands] is watched over by Mithas.
  • The Walking Mountain.
  • A facility for mining Tera Crystals located within the Area Zero Underdepths.
