The Avenger, originally known as the Auric Avenger, is a superhero identity adopted by multiple individuals. Along with Shingeko and Gaia, the Auric Avenger was one of the original heroes introduced in the Ranger-2 arc.

The Auric Avenger (Avenger v1)

The Auric Avenger, retroactively dubbed the Avenger v1, was created and adopted by Lucius Cain, and designed by Renard Clavis.

Appearance

The Avenger v1 suit is black and purple, and designed to emulate the appearance of a Lucario. The eyes are obscured by aura-blue tinted lenses when the ARHUD is active. The canine-like cowl has four teardrop shaped appendages hanging from the back, like a Lucario. It has a symbol emblazoned across the chest: a metallic silver triangle overlaid by a stylized double-A with the two letters overlapping each other. The gauntlets each have a single triangular blade on them. Two metal casings the same color as the suit hang from either side of the waist and house the Grapnel Gear, giving the wearer's thighs the appearance of being wider than they are. Around the suit's waist is a metallic, many-compartmented belt that bears the same insignia as the chest and contains a variety of collapsible - and extremely potent - devices and weaponry. The boots, thanks to their shape and the shape of the toes, give the wearer the appearance of having canine-like legs as well as incorporating built-in shock absorbers that allow them to safely land on their feet from almost any height.

Features

  • Kelvar-lined suit is partially bulletproof, able to stop low-calibre rounds and turn away bladed weapons.
  • Cowl features a comm unit, and lenses are able to display an augmented reality heads-up display with thermal and infrared vision modes.
  • Triangular wrist-mounted blades serve as a powerful, albeit lethal, melee weapon.
  • Springed heels and shock absorbers in the boots absorb the impact of falls, allowing the wearer to drop from heights of up to 30m without injury.
  • Waist-mounted Grapnel Gear allows wearer to grapple onto objects up to 20m away.
  • Dart pistol can hold up to three darts loaded with Sleep Powder.
  • Gel dispenser can spray plastic explosive gel onto nearby surfaces, which can then be detonated to breach walls or destroy fragile structures.
  • Utility belt holds four smoke bombs and eight Crobatarangs, which can be remote-controlled or loaded with an electrical charge.
  • Open-mouthed cowl leaves wearer vulnerable to gas attacks or suffocation.

Avenger v2

The Avenger v2 was the first upgrade Lillianna Cain made to the suit. After the Lillifuture version of Sarah Amarin and Nereid stole an upgraded version of the Yevalitic Multi-Auric Combat Armor from Cipher and brought it back to the past for Lillianna, the suit was made to implement aspects of its technology, although restricted to classical Aura as opposed to the full spectrum. It was later given to Liam.

Appearance

The Avenger v2 suit is more reminiscent of a suit of "powered armour" than its predecessor. Unlike the v1, it is fully enclosed, and primarily made of metal rather than fabric. It bears much less resemblance to a Lucario, lacking the rear appendages on the helmet and the wrist blades, though it keeps the horns and the same colour scheme as the original costume.

Features

  • Servomotors built into the suit drastically increase the wearer's physical strength.
  • Metallic carapace defects small arms fire and most melee attacks, providing enhanced protection and increasing wearer survivability.
  • Helmet features a comm unit, integrated augmented reality heads-up display with thermal and infrared vision modes, and air filters.
  • Internal atmosphere of the suit is self-contained, allowing the wearer to survive underwater or in high-pressure environments for up to 30 minutes.
  • Suit incorporates aspects of YMCA technology, allowing the wearer to emulate classical Auric abilities.
  • Springed heels and shock absorbers in the boots absorb the impact of falls, allowing the wearer to drop from heights of up to 30m without injury.
  • Gauntlets can be electrified, allowing the wearer to overload electrical systems or incapacitate opponents.
  • Wrist-mounted dart launcher can hold up to three darts loaded with Sleep Powder.
  • Built-in voice modulator in helmet conceals the wearer's identity.
  • Increased weight of suit means that it is unable to utilise a Grapnel Gear.

Avenger v3

The Avenger v3 suit was created by Nereid in the Lillifuture and passed on to Lillianna Cain as a further upgrade, allowing them to give the v2 suit to Liam. It is the most streamlined version of the Avenger suit, able to be worn under civilian clothes without detection. As a step up from the previous version, the v3 suit more thoroughly implements the technology of the YMCA.

Appearance

Unlike other models of the Avenger suit, the v3 is not trying to emulate the appearance of any given Pokemon, and values functionality over form. To some extent, it resembles the Hēi Guī stealth armour from the Fallout franchise.

Features

  • Streamlined design makes the suit practically skintight; the gauntlets and helmet are formed by nanomachines upon activation, allowing it to be worn under civilian clothing.
  • Suit is bulletproof, able to deflect small arms fire and even higher-calibre rounds.
  • Helmet features a comm unit and a fully-integrated sensory suite, with a virtual intelligence system that provides environmental information in real time.
  • Suit incorporates enhanced YMCA technology, allowing the wearer to emulate abilities from all four corners of the Auric Spectrum.
  • Molecular attachment and bonding technology allows the wearer to climb almost any surface effortlessly.
  • Nanomachines propel themselves upwards when they detect a descent at an unsafe velocity, providing a "feather fall" effect for the wearer at the cost of disabling the suit's other systems.
  • Built-in voice modulator in helmet conceals the wearer's identity.
