• Chernobog was named after the Slavic god of death of the same name, referencing both Chernobog's fascination with death and mortality as well as his massive stature and the fact that he compares himself multiple times to a benevolent god due to him having a Grim Reaper-esque fascination with mortality. The name also contains a pun on the word "bog", defined as a swamp containing rotting plants-- a reference back to Chernobog's Ghost/Grass typing as well as the algae surrounding his body.
• According to Goldenheart388, Chernobog's Hasslemon handle is grimFantasia (GF). "Grim" references the Grim Reaper, the main personification of death in multiple countries, representing Chernobog's fascination with the subjects of death, mortality, and the afterlife. "Fantasia", meanwhile, is related back to "fantasy", which in turn references Chernobog's ghost typing. It is also a reference to the Disney film Fantasia, whose famous "Night on Bald Mountain" segment featured the original Chernobog guarding Hell and causing death, destruction, and suffering (despite the fact that Chernobog the Dhelmise would not bother causing any of that). "Fantasia", by proxy, is Chernobog's favorite Disney movie.
• According to Goldenheart388, Chernobog's English character theme is "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult. The song serves as a summation of Chernobog's thoughts on death-- namely, that it will come for everyone eventually, so no one should be afraid of it. It also serves as a look into Chernobog's fascination with death and the afterlife. His Japanese character theme, meanwhile, is "BLUE" by VIVID, the 14th opening to Bleach.
