Professor James Patrick Yew is an esteemed polymath author, a retired government agent and emeritus professor in comparative mythology. Having majored in psychology in his youth, his current field before his was in the discussion of the mythopoeia behind the aura spectrum, which he postulated was an early attempt to describe aspects of the human psyche before the science of modern psychology.

He is actually a longtime student of the Auric Spectrum and is a powerful psychic himself. His work, often framed as mythology and needlessly flatulent self-help books, are legitimate introductions to Auric Spectrum studies, if a bit obtuse and rather unhelpful for modern casual readers due to its boring content.

Appearance

He is an otherwise healthy White man of Crown Tundran descent. Though balding today, he used to have long dirty blond hair. He walks with a pair of crutches.

Biography

As a child, he and his family moved from their home in Galar to upstate Unova. In the 1970s, he was involved in many covert secret ops that involved research into the effective use of human-pokémon espionage teams. He ostensibly believed that working closely with an affiliated psychic pokémon can help spies or special ops teams infiltrate targets. His teams were revealed to have worn yellow and black jumpsuits. In the [Cold War], this was a big deal. His work with the government of [America] involved creating a tactical special ops team consisting of auric humans and their psychic and dark partner pokémon.

His relationship with his employers began to sour when he found out about their affiliation with the eugenics cabal that calls itself The School. He ended his involvement with a specific division once he's seen enough of what they were planning. This was followed by a string of failures in his special ops division led to a falling out with his superiors. Not long after, he had an equally acrimonious breakup with his longtime partner and boyfriend.

From then on, Yew resigned from his post and entered a rather quiet and mildly civilian life. He then spent a large part of his life and work in academia.

At present, he lives with his niece and nephew-in-law, Haley and Scott Howlett, who regularly escort him to places. His old files have been partially declassified and he is frequently praised for being among the pioneers of workplace diversity and his later work in promoting civil rights. Recently, his family has finally succeeded in rescuing one schoolchild, Kal, who at one point resided in their fortified mansion.

  • The actual X-Men franchise in-universe may have been inspired by the declassified government documents Professor Yew was involved in.
