Roy

Roy is Colton's Blaziken, and the fifth ‘mon he acquired during the Entralink Arc, being the eleventh Pokemon he’s captured overall.

Personality

Roy is actually the protagonist of Fire Emblem: Binding Blade. He has a strong sense of justice and a respect for Colton as he helped him navigate the world. But ever since he learned he was a video game character he’s had bouts of nihilism.

That doesn’t stop him from being a friend to everyone around him, as much a general to his men as he is a guiding figure who can see the strength and camaraderie in even the most ragtag team. Especially attempting to be a father to his son, Koyasa, giving him some direction in his life, as opposed to his mother, Sunny who doesn't want to see her son stuck at the behest of a Trainer for his entire life.

Details

  • Birthday: Unknown, c. 2001
  • Age: 22
  • Met: Yangverse Unova, Route 214 (Torchic) [Caught]
  • Ability: Blaze
  • Nature: Brave

Battle Strategy

Roy fights much like he does in the Smash Bros series, although he uses kicks and whatnot instead of the Sword of Seals. He has developed a rather haphazard mixture of techniques across the type spectrum as best he could have, and only Mega Evolves in a pinch, as he sees it as rather unfair.

Known Techniques

  • TypeFighting.gif Close Combat, Double Kick, Focus Punch, High Jump Kick, Low Sweep
  • TypeFire.gif Blaze Kick, Ember, Fire Punch, Flame Charge, Flare Blitz

Relationships

Ever since Roy’s realization of his fictitiousness he has developed a relationship with Sunny, although he describes his heart still belongs to Lilina. Ever since January 2020, however, with Caliburn's departure he was similarly able to say goodbye via letter to her.

Trivia

  • Roy’s close-range sweetspots from Smash Bros are loosely translated into his Sword of Seals’ power residing in his chest whenever he turns into a Blaziken.
  • He has since swapped out his bulky armor for some casual attire. He still has his armor, but there’s no reason to wear it in moments of levity.
  • He gave himself the surname “Pherae-Lycia” when put on the spot, in reference to being the lord of Pherae, and then Lycia by his game’s end.
  • According to Absent, to reconcile his disdain for combat from Fire Emblem with his ferocity in Smash Bros., Roy apparently tends to "lose himself" in battle.
