Name Basis: Ancient Hindu divine bird. Also, the name of the player's squadron in Ace Combat 6.
Garuda was a displaced Sigilyph that had once been a part of Cipher's smuggling operations, but had gotten loose and began wandering Eclo Canyon. During Dune's first Silph expedition, Garuda attacked the scientists out of fear, but was caught by Dune before he could injure anyone. Garuda has since gotten over his fear of scientists, deeming his first encounter to "not be a comprehensive observation of the profession."
