Appearance

Ky Kyselle is a 5'8" young man with messy, uncombed green hair, wearing a thick Safari Ball-patterned hoodie, white sneakers and a bag designed after a Quick Ball that he got from the Trainer Tower and keeps his Pokeballs inside. He generally looks somewhat unintimidating aside from his decent height, but he's stronger than he looks and overall pretty fit.

Biography

Ky was born on Six Island of the Sevii Islands, with his first partner Pokémon being a Medicham formerly belonging to his mother, given to him as a young boy for his own protection once his parents realized that he had a tendency to run off into the habitats of wild Pokémon. Though Yu, the Medicham in question, was afraid of wild Pokémon and had little battling experience, he knew it was his responsibility to protect Ky, and so tried his best to grow a spine, his heart growing as well as he developed a close relationship with his new trainer, swearing to make sure that he was safe at all costs.

Eventually, realizing that Ky had the potential to be a very skilled Pokémon trainer if he put his mind to it, his father recommended that he take on the Trainer Tower on Seven Island, where numerous trainers went to test their strength, speed and skills. Ky gladly took the offer, traveling to the neighboring island and taking on the tower with glee...only to find that no matter how hard he tried, no matter how many attempts he made at it, just him and his single Medicham weren't enough to reach the top. But he refused to go back to his parents in disappointment, and so, he kept trying...to no avail. Salvation only came when he heard rumors of a powerful Pokémon lurking within Altering Cave back on his home of Six Island, and so, hoping to capture it and use its strength to conquer the tower, he returned home.

However, he refused to let his parents know the true reason he was returning, and so he lied that he had conquered the tower. He was of course given much praise and adoration, but it only made the guilt inside of him feel stronger. He left for Altering Cave as soon as he could, seeking the powerful Pokémon. Inside, he found a Grapploct, apparently having traveled to the cave all the way from the Galar region, and engaged it in a fierce battle that was only won by Yu finally overcoming his fear at the last moment and fighting with all his might. Ky successfully captured the fierce Pokémon...only to find it not as fierce as it had been in their initial battle in reality.

The Grapploct turned out to be named Nab, a huge fan of fighting games who adopted a persona similar to his favorite video game character whenever he entered a battle to give himself extra confidence and style points. However, as it turned out, he actually had some very good advice for Ky, telling him that he wouldn't be able to conquer the tower with only a single Pokémon, and would instead need a balanced team. With his help, Ky managed to catch two more Pokémon, fitting the fighting game archetypes of the "zoner" and "rushdown" to match his current "shoto" and "grappler", an Abra named Mel and a Buneary named Lulu respectively.

However, while the two were formidable for being so young and unevolved, he anticipated they weren't going to be enough to tip the scales for him without training. And so, he set out for Kanto in hopes of making them stronger by taking on the Gym Challenge, as well as hoping to learn new strategies from the trainers he might encounter there (though he didn't tell his parents this was his motivation for his new journey). His Kanto journey started in Vermilion City, and as it turned out, it would end there as well, or at least be put on hold. He encountered the Paldean Champion Yukari Kanase, who was also planning on taking on the Vermilion City Gym, and the two had a battle to determine who would face the Gym Leader first. Predictably, Ky lost, but this experience led to him learning Yukari's identity as both a Champion and a member of the J-Team, as well as him discovering the existence of Naranja y Uva Academy in Paldea. Seeing the school as a place where he and his team could learn and grow, he hitched a ride on the Stormchaser to Paldea with Yukari's permission, making her promise to return him to Kanto once a few months had passed so that he could eventually return to takking on the Indigo League. He's now attending classes at Naranja y Uva Academy, and having quite an eventful first week there...

Personality

Ky fiercely desires the approval of his parents and other people he respects and looks up to, but he can sometimes have a hard time earning that approval or feeling like he's done so, due to sometimes being a bit nervous in social situations and still having a lot to learn about Pokémon training. However, he generally makes up for his flaws with his great love for his Pokémon, and his appreciation of the beauty of nature. Despite this, he can still often make questionable or irrational decisions when his desire to earn approval gets the better of him, even when it involves his own Pokémon, with his tendency to prioritize gathering strength and eventually conquering the Trainer Tower leading him to lie and act reckless.
