Firuzland is a term used to describe the unnamed lands to the west of Olivine and Cianwood Cities which were explored by Firuz during the time of the GC Arc.
The region was first mentioned (unnamed, of course) during the Gold Conference Arc when Firuz was designated volunteer to go explore the region for about four months with his Pokémon. Firuz wrote some stories about what we found, which made their way to the PEFE BBS system. Eventually the term 'Firuzland' for the land and adventures thereof was coined by the meta.
Shortly after the return from the AU arc, a horde of Houndour and Houndoom ventured from Firuzland into Johto as far as he forest near the National Park; they were stopped by Hamada's Owsla before Maekrite was sent to the Ecruteak towers.
By the end of the Hoenn arc, Firuz had returned from his stay in the still unnamed lands, only to be informed he would be returning there.
Pokémon
At least one portion of it is known to be inhabited by hostile, non-Vow compliant Grass-types, who can be placated through eating certain Berries.
Sometimes hordes of Pokémon from the non-Vow compliant wildlands venture east into Johto, and sometimes they have even managed to reach into the farmlands and the forests near Ecruteak in exploration.
Alternate Timeline
While not stated explicitly, Claudus and his pack might come from Firuzland, as during the meeting between Celebi and Talvi to discuss the upcoming events of the Draconic Uprising, Claudus was stated to come from the lands "west of Arborville".
PMD-B
In the timeline that became PMD-B, Firuzland and Cianwood ended up under the control of the Empire of the Ancients.
Trivia
- Firuzland is likely an analogue of both western Shikoku and the Chugoku region of Japan.
