The Macraul Family is a Kalosian noble family, most well known for the fact that just about every member is a collector of some kind, and are willing to do just about anything to acquire those things. This has led to their members often clashing with the J-Team when they happen to have qualities that the Macraul in question wants.

History

The Macrauls as a defined political clan have been attested for centuries, making them one of the oldest noble families in [Europe] with a provable line of descent. But the family had been a prominent political block in Kalos and the nearby regions for much longer than that. The Macrauls ultimately trace their genetic descent to David and Sylvestra, who were alive before Kalos was even annexed by the [Roman Empire]. Sylvestra herself is indigenous to the region and was among several [Gallic] warchiefs ruling the area now occupied by Lumiose City. Upon the [Roman] conquest, her family quickly assimilated into [Roman] culture. Over the next century, they gradually grew in power and influence over the ancient [Mediterranean] and, later, Medieval [Europe].

Although the family has lost a lot of direct political control after the Kalosian Revolution, they maintained quite a lot of soft power owing to their great wealth.
