Rose Jaide, formerly known as Paula Jaide, is a player character written by BittersweetNSour.

Biography

Before Debut

Paula Jaide was born to the Jaide family of Kalosian jewelers, the middle child between her brother Garrett and her sister Amy. Growing up in a conservative household, Paula was prone to acting out against her parents and rebelling against their expectations and intent for her. At age 15, she decided she'd had enough, and fled from home, going to Orre in order to be as difficult to track down as she could be.

In Orre, Paula was found by Ardos, who appealed to her ambitions and hunger for respect, and attempted to recruit her for Cipher. At the time, Paula was hesitant to trust him, and declined the offer, instead continuing her life as a treasure hunter.

Kanjoh-2 Debut

In 2012, Paula managed to dig up the buried Poke Ball that Diane used to capture-proof herself, and tracked down Diane in Pokeform to claim her for herself. When Skye challenged her "ownership" of the ball, Paula took it as a personal slight, and refused to return her until she was defeated. The incident struck a nerve with her, and she fell back on Ardos's offer, finally deciding to join Cipher after all.

Orre Arc

By the time the J-Team went to Orre, Paula had managed to climb to Commander rank, with the intent to rise even further. She recaptured Diane using a Snag Machine, and put her through Shadowfication, curious to show the effects of the Shadow process when a Pokemon shifts to human form. In the J-Team's raid against Cipher's Resources HQ, Skye managed to snag Diane back from Paula, infuriating her even further. To regain respect, Paula came up with a plan to capture the Heatran that resided within Mt. Battle, to use as Cipher's newest Legendary ace; upon success, she managed to convince her peers to promote her to Admin rank. The other Admins gave her a new department, the Special Acquisitions department, as a "kicking upstairs" measure, though it was not enough to diminish her fearsome reputation among the organization. As a display of her new power, she returned to the Resources HQ in order to have Heatran melt it down.

During her time in Cipher, Paula had a budding romance with fellow Commander Verax, who witnessed her Heatran feat firsthand. She found Kirsten as a rival for his affections, and ultimately won him over, earning Kirsten's hatred. However, the romance was cut short in the J-Team's final assault against Cipher, when she lost all of her Pokemon -- including Heatran -- and then was teleported into a desert in PMD-A, with no trace o show she was still alive.

Ranger-2

Paula's next appearance came during the Ranger-2 arc, having managed to connect with the Unown and return to the OU, her mind unstable and erratic. After another confrontation, Diane took pity on her in her disheveled state, and harbored her so that she wouldn't get arrested; however, after some fallout, she was turned in to the authorities. In prison, the Unown revisited her, freeing her, but fully separating the memories of Paula from her and leaving an amnesiac husk.

Goldenrod Interlude

The amnesiac Paula eventually managed to stow away to Goldenrod, where one of the first J-Teamers to meet her was Savannah. After a brief conversation, Savannah helped her come up with the name Rose, offering a white rose as a symbol of it. Later, she re-encountered Verax, who informed her of her former identity, though Rose's lack of attachment and memories of her former life meant that any attempt to rekindle their romance was doomed to fail.

Near Goldenrod, Rose found a new Starter Pokemon, a Shiny Spearow that she named Domino.
