Pancake

Pancake is Poppy's Pawmi, and the second she acquired during the Paldea Arc.

Personality

Pancake is a friendly Pokémon, with him being relatively young and being raised by Poppy's late grandpa. He is, however, extremely scared of death, to the point he over-analyses any potential death threats even when the chances of someone being hurt are so low. Even when he first met Poppy, he asked her if he had any health problems, especially heart problems - though this was because she's related to his caretaker, and he didn't want what happened to him to happen to her.

Backstory

Pancake was taken in by Poppy's grandpa from a young age, as the latter wanted to help look after Pokémon until he found suitable trainers for them. He even considered giving Pancake to Poppy, but eventually decided not yet. A month later, however, Pancake's whole life turned upside down when he watched his caretaker have a heart attack and die, and not knowing what death was yet, was traumatised by this event. After coming to terms with what had happened, he lived his life alone in the old house which wasn't up for sale.

Battle Strategy

Due to joining relatively late into the Paldean journey, he does not have enough battle experience to put together a strategy, but he does know a few moves - and can use Nuzzle to paralyse opponents if the time strikes.

Relationships

• Poppy: Pancake feels most assured with Poppy, as she has stated she won't die on him. He also tends to ride on her shoulder, out of his Pokeball.
• Donut: Pancake seems to be fascinated by Donut, as he ended up being Poppy's starter instead of him.
• Shroomy: Pancake seems to look up to Shroomy as a parental figure, there to protect the whole team.
• Sunrise: Pancake seems assured that she won't go down easily, due to her battle skills.
• Crusher: Pancake seems to view Crusher as someone like him, who doesn't battle much yet, and is almost as small as he is.
• Nessa: Pancake seems worried by Nessa's depressive state, but has hopes she'll break out of it.
• Stormwind: While Pancake is assured by Stormwind's battle skills, he isn't so sure about how enthusiastic he is to battle, and how seemingly reckless he can get about it.
• Lila: Pancake seems worried that Lila's thieving tendencies will land her in hot water, but Lila says not to worry.
