Shun Hontou is a young detective for the International Police and a secondary PC of Herbert40k.

Biography

Shun is an idealist deep down, deeply committed to upholding the law, but his optimism is tempered by firsthand knowledge that the world rarely conforms to moral or logical rules. He believes that others refuse to take him seriously due to his young age and maintains a strict and serious demeanour as a result. Despite this, Shun still has a childish streak, which manifests itself in his love for disco music and terrible sci-fi movies.

History

Shun's parents were both police officers who were killed in a landslide at Mt. Coronet that left his older brother, Kenji, paralysed from the waist down. The two boys were raised by their grandfather, a retired private detective, and Shun was inspired to follow in his footsteps. He joined Interpol at the age of thirteen and first met the J-Team a year later in the Ranger Regions.

Relationships

Despite initially being on opposite sides of the law, Shun is now firm friends with Danielle and Tara after the trio were trapped by the Memory Glitch. He considers Sholto both his most dependable mon and his closest friend. He was also close with Sakura prior to her retirement.

Appearance

Shun is short for his age, standing at 5'3", with messy black hair and his mother's dark complexion. He wears a navy-blue suit over a white pressed shirt with either a black tie or a bolo tie, and is rarely seen without his tattered blue newsboy hat. He carries his service revolver, a snub-nosed New Nambu 60, in a holster on his hip.

In the Lillifuture

Shun ultimately became the Director of the IDPD, and following Volpe's death has acted as something of a surrogate father figure for Leone and Tigre. He has nothing but disdain for his younger self's naive optimism, and in response OU!Shun despises this future version of himself for his fascistic tendencies.

Trivia

  • Shun's personality, attire and weapon of choice all draw inspiration from Naoto Shirogane, one of the playable characters in Persona 4.
  • Shun has a tendency to accumulate injuries (broken bones being the most prominent) during raids, police actions, or even more mundane events like babysitting.
