Axollo

Axollo is Axis Hunter's Shiny Marshtomp, and the fourth Pokemon that they caught on their journey.

Personality

While not a complete idiot, Axollo is far from the brightest- or most attentive- of the team. He is a massive fan of Silly Cobra and, as such, is extremely silly and goofy in his demeanor, sometimes prone to sticking his tongue out and making derpy fish eyes. He is also, like Ananpi, a breaker of the fourth wall, and will sometimes comment on things that happen in the RP and how absurd it all is, albeit not as often as Ananpi does. Axollo is extremely exciteable and enjoys having fun with people and Pokemon, most notably his best friend and fellow Shiny Hoenn starter, Letina. While some of his behaviors do annoy her at times, Axollo doesn't seem to mind at all, and takes it all in stride. His main goal in life towards Letina is to get her to have as much fun as possible while she is alive. As such, he tries very hard to get Letina invested in some of his endeavors, such as watching Silly Cobra episodes with him and roleplaying. Axollo is extremely optimistic, albeit not as much as Puxiki is, and a little bit childish and naive-- although, again, not as much as Puxiki. He enjoys playing games, singing songs, and eating food, and while he is slow to learn things, he is able to keep some things in his head. Mainly, this relates to Silly Cobra, of which he is a massive fan. He also enjoys playing roleplaying games and learning languages-- specifically the Japanese and Latin languages. Upon revealing to Puxiki that he was learning the former, Puxiki was ecstatic, and decided to practice the language with him. The latter, meanwhile, is appreciated by Letina due to it being an old dead language. Besides Axis, Axollo is the biggest Homestuck fan on the team, in part due to his love of constellations and astronomy. He will sometimes talk to the constellations as though they are alive, and most often speaks to his own sign, Pisces. In battle, Axollo is the most unpredictable team member. Sometimes he will use his own moves, but other times, he will improvise moves on the spot. As such, he views battling as a fun game, rather than a strategic affair like Letina does. Among the moves he has improvised include a Water Gun and Rock Throw combo, a Water Gun and Rock Smash combo, and the use of a mirror to deflect attacks back at the opponent.

Personality Profile

Your name is AXOLLO. You are a SHINY MUDKIP.

If your companion LETINA is the TSUKKOMI, you are the BOKE. You're not necessarily the BRIGHTEST BULB IN THE SHED, but you're far from a COMPLETE IDIOT ALL THE SAME. You have a bit of a tendency to be RATHER EXCITEABLE about MANY THINGS, from the thought of MEETING NEW PEOPLE to SURPRISING THEM OUT OF THE BLUE WITH SILLY COBRA SKITS. You also sometimes will MAKE BIZARRE NON-SEQUITURS OUT OF THE BLUE and ACKNOWLEDGE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING BEHIND THE SCENES, including the VERY NATURE OF THIS RP and YOUR CHARACTER.... Case in point. Naturally, your more SERIOUS AND STOIC SHINY TORCHIC COMPANION LETINA finds some of these things VERY ANNOYING to her. You, however, don't really seem to mind, and want her to HAVE AS MUCH FUN AS POSSIBLE with the SHORT TIME SHE HAS ON THIS EARTH (she is, after all, a FIRE-type POKEMON). You often ENCOURAGE her to PARTICIPATE in some of your RATHER FUNNY ENDEAVORS, such as WATCHING SILLY COBRA ON REPEAT, ROLEPLAYING TOGETHER, and so on. While she won't admit it to your face, she actually FINDS SOME OF THESE THINGS RATHER FUN, and identifies with the CORPORAL WHO THINKS THAT THINGS ARE GETTING TOO SILLY. In addition to your SILLINESS, you are also rather CHILDISH AND NAIVE, and love PLAYING GAMES and EATING FOOD. You also like SINGING SONGS, and sometimes will INTERRUPT CERTAIN THINGS to SING A RANDOM SONG. This also ANNOYS YOUR COMPANION, but again, you just want her to have FUN. Unfortunately, though, you don't really have a STRONG SENSE OF BOUNDARIES as a result. Even so, you're relatively OPTIMISTIC— though not as much as PUXIKI. Unlike him, you can recognize when an enemy can't be REDEEMED— in which case you then go all SILLY COBRA on him, and attack them with SURPRISE, FEAR, A DEAD PARROT, and an ALMOST FANATICAL DEVOTION TO ARCEUS.

While you can be rather SLOW TO LEARN SOME THINGS, unlike LETINA, the things you ARE quick to learn you have COMMITTED TO YOUR MEMORY for TIME IMMEMORIAM. These things mainly constitute your INTERESTS— your most notable one being SILLY COBRA'S TRAPEZE SHOW and indeed SILLY COBRA stuff in general. You have watched every SILLY COBRA EPISODE, have memorized many of the SKITS WORD-FOR-WORD, and have WATCHED EVERY SILLY COBRA MOVIE. However, considering you don't like to CURSE, you will BLEEP OUT CURSE WORDS AUDIBLY AND MAKE BEEPING NOISES ON REPEAT. Additionally, you enjoy ROLEPLAYING GAMES such as CHARIZARDS AND CAVES, and also have a fascination for LANGUAGES, much like PUXIKI does. However, while PUXIKI's main interest is JAPANESE, yours is LATIN. Yep, you study an OLD, DEAD LANGUAGE— something that LETINA APPRECIATES. You also study- wait for it- JAPANESE. PUXIKI will certainly like that. Additionally, you enjoy STUDYING THE STARS, PLANETS, ASTRONOMY, and CONSTELLATIONS, and as such have a FAR BIGGER KNOWLEDGE OF HOMESTUCK than any other member of the team thus far. You CERTAINLY know more about it than LETINA does. Of course, though, given the fact that you ALSO TALK TO INANIMATE OBJECTS, you sometimes will refer to the constellations as though they were REAL. You particularly enjoy talking to ORION, POLLUX and CAPTOR (the latter two for OBVIOUS HOMESTUCK-RELATED REASONS), as well as EVERY ZODIAC CONSTELLATION. Your personal favorite one, though, is of course, the one and only PIECES— AKA your SIGN. In a STRIFE, you are UNPREDICTABLE and SILLY. No one knows what MOVE you will use NEXT. In fact, sometimes you MAKE UP YOUR OWN MOVES and/or go full on SILLY COBRA on the opponent. However, this allows you to treat battling like a FUN GAME, rather than the SERIOUS AND STRATEGIC AFFAIR that LETINA treats it as. If you were a HOMESTUCK troll, your STRIFE SPECIBUS would be BANANAKIND ABSTRATUS.

Trivia

• Axollo's name is derived from a shortening of "axolotl", one of the species of amphibians that the Mudkip line are based off of (which is particularly evident with the Shiny line's pink coloration). It could potentially also be derived from "Apollo", despite the fact that Axollo's corresponding Greek god is Poseidon.
• According to Goldenheart388, Axollo's Hasslemon handle is aqueousGearwheel (AG). Fittingly for Axollo, this is a hidden Monty Python reference- "aqueous gearwheel" is a synonymous term with "wet sprocket", referencing the band Toad the Wet Sprocket. The band in question got their name from a Monty Python skit on an audio CD, featuring a fictitious band known as "Toad the Wet Sprocket". Additionally, toads, mudskippers, and axolotls are all amphibians. Additionally, "aqueous" serves as a double reference to Axollo's Water typing, whereas "gearwheel" could be a metaphor for the "gears" in the mind; if one has an "aqueous gearwheel", they quite literally have water in the brain (not actual hydrocephaly), which could serve as a reference to Axollo's rambling cloudcuckoolander tendencies. In addition, Poseidon was the Greek god of water, which could serve as another meaning of the "aqueous" half. Additionally, all of the Hasslemon handle abbreviations of Axis Hunter's Pokemon correspond to that of a Homestuck troll; Axollo's handle abbreviation, AG, matches up with that of Vriska (arachnidsGrip (AG)).
• According to Goldenheart388, Axollo's regular character theme is "New Constellation" by Toad the Wet Sprocket, his Broadway character theme is "Knights of the Round Table" from Spamalot, and his headcanon voice is that of Steven Blum as Guilmon (and the entire line, for that matter) from Digimon Tamers.
• Axollo's corresponding Greek god is Poseidon, the god of the seas, earthquakes, and horses. Seas and earthquakes tie in to Axollo's typing as a Water- and eventually, Water/Ground- Pokemon, whereas Poseidon being the Greek god of horses is referenced in a roundabout way by Axollo's love of Monty Python/Silly Cobra. Horses are often rode by knights, similarly to those of the round table in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Incidentally, as a result of this, Axollo believes that Poseidon is instead the Greek god of "seas, earthquakes, and coconuts". By proxy, his corresponding sign is Pisces, his corresponding Homestuck troll in terms of sign is Feferi Peixes, and his corresponding Homestuck troll in terms of personality is (post-death) Aradia Megido, with a bit of Gamzee Makara and Feferi Peixes thrown in for good measure.
