History

Prior to being given to Evelyn, Hanuman was one of the three starter Pokémon owned by Professor Rowan in his lab at the time-- the other two were the 'mons that would later be named Kaylan and Ritchie. When Ian, Evelyn and Kimberly Bond first met Hanuman, he was embroiled in a fight with Kaylan because the Tiny Leaf Pokémon bit his tail and ended up burning their mouth. Ritchie tried to quell the fighting, but was set on fire by Hanuman as a result. It took Evelyn and Mirai intervening to bring him to the point of reasoning. After the fight between Kaylan and Hanuman was settled, Professor Rowan let Ian, Evelyn and Kim have their choice of the Starter Trio. Evelyn chose Hanuman as her Sinnoh starter, but she traded him to Ian for Yumi, which Hanuman reasoned as "so Ian can help him better control his Blaze ability."
