"Rawr!"

Lake is Luke's Feraligatr and first Pokémon. He was born ten years prior to the events of WAAPT at a starter ranch in an unknown location somewhere in Johto. He pent the first few months of his life living with his mother, a Feraligatr called Deluge, and his siblings before being taken to the Professor Elm's Pokémon Lab to be distributed as a starter Pokémon. Due to this, he considers his official home to be New Bark Town.

After spending some time getting to know his fellow starter Pokémon; A female Chikorita called Basil, and a male Cyndaquil called Cinder, Lake was picked by the then ten year old Luke to be his starter Pokémon. However, unlike most trainers, Luke wasn't planning on starting his journey anytime soon, but had decided to get a Pokémon both so that he could get to know it better before he started, and simply for companionship.

For the next seven years, Lake lived with Luke at his home in New Bark Town, the two quickly becoming inseparable from each other, despite some early problems such as Lake trying to bite pretty much anything and everything, or eating small objects. Such as the keys to the front door. Luckily, Professor Elm was more than happy to help whenever Lake found himself getting into trouble, so most of these issues were easily solved.

As a result of being raised in a human environment, Lake became incredibly familiar with human customs, at the cost of most of his natural instincts as a Totodile. As an example, Lake eventually became literate in English, but this came at the cost of learning how to hunt, which he had to be taught much later on than he would have in the wild.

Seven Years after choosing Lake, Luke finally left New Bark Town with the Totodile in tow to start his journey as a Pokémon trainer, the two using their familiarity with each other to quickly work their way towards the first gym at a time when most trainers would be getting to know their first Pokémon. Although he hadn't been in many battles when they were living in New Bark, he was able to evolve into a Croconaw soon after beating the Violet City Gym.

Although he was still mostly his friendly self, Lake became much more aggressive upon evolution, as per normal for most members of his species. It was at this point that he grew out of his "bitey" phase, after accidentally nipping his team-mate Woolly hard enough to necessitate a visit to the Pokémon Center, the experince teaching him to be more choosy in who and what he should use his powerful jaws on.

Soon after his evolution, Luke, Lake and the rest of his team had their first encounter with Team Rocket at the Slowpoke Well in Azalea Town. Thankfully, there were fought off rather easily (Mainly because the man in charge of the operation's strongest Pokémon was a Lv.12 Koffing), Lake developed a rather strong dislike for Team Rocket, which was hardly surprising.

Things continued rather uneventfully for Luke and Lake until they reached Ecruteak City. While exploring the charred remains of the Brass (now Burned) Tower, the two had their first (of many) encounters with Legendary Pokémon: in this case, the legendary beasts of Johto. This was the first indication that Luke and Lake received that they were destined for important things...

After earning a Gym Badge from Morty, then agreeing to retrieve a medicine for the Olivine Lighthouse's Ampharos upon the gym leader Jasmine's request (not that Luke needed a reason to help an Ampharos), Lake evolved into a Feraligatr after a scuffle with a large Tentacruel while traveling across the ocean to Cianwood City. While he had trouble adapting to his new body at first (for a start, he was now much MUCH larger than most people and Pokémon after being short for most of his life), he quickly managed to adapt, growing to love his new, much more powerful form.

After beating Chuck and taking a brief detour to the newly opened Johto Safari Zone, Luke, Lake and the rest of the team made their way to Mahogany Town, only to find that there was trouble at the nearby Lake of Rage. Upon investigating, and defeating a strange Red Gyarados, they ran into Lance and his Dragonite, who asked for their help in investigating a suspect Rocket Base back in Mahogany Town.

After assisting in clearing out the Secret Team Rocket hideout, they discovered that Team Rocket had overthrown the Goldenrod Radio Tower, hoping to not only find their former leader Giovanni, but to use it as a transmitter to broadcast their evolution signal used at the Lake of Rage across all of Johto!

With the fate of Pokémon nationwide resting on their shoulders, Luke, Lake and the rest of the team managed to infiltrate the tower by disguising themselves as members of Team Rocket. Although this was short-circuited by Luke's rival Silver blowing his cover, they fought their way through all the forces Team Rocket could throw at them, eventually reaching the top of the tower, and the then current executive of Team Rocket: Archer, who they managed to eventually beat after a fierce battle.

With Team Rocket disbanded seemingly for good, Luke, Lake and the team made their way to Blackthorn City challenge Clair, the final gym leader in Johto. After making their way through the Ice Path (Which Lake found awful due to being cold-blooded, which made him weak in cold temperatures), they arrived in Blackthorn and challenged Clair. After beating her in battle, followed by a brief detour to the nearby Dragons' Den to test themselves against the elders, they finally recoved the last badge, granting them access to the Pokémon League.

After taking a break back at home in New Bark Town for a little bit, Luke, Lake and the team were about to leave to face the Pokémon League when they were summoned to Ecruteak City by the Kimono Girls, who they had met several times on their journey. After beating them all in a challenge to prove their skill, they were taken to the roof of the nearby Tin Tower.

There, they explained that they had been waiting for a trainer with a pure heart in hope that they could summon the legendary Pokémon Ho-oh. Convinced that Luke had proven himself to be a trainer of pure heart, the Kimono Girls preformed the summoning ritual.

To everyone's shock, a giant Phoenix Pokemon, the legendary Ho-oh, descended from the sky, and spoke to them in perfect English, challenging Luke and his Pokemon to prove their worth to him in the form of a battle.

Although Ho-oh was outnumbered six to one, he was able to brush aside Luke's team without any trouble whatsoever. Although Lake lasted the longest, and was even able to block a Sacred Fire attack with a Hydro Cannon, even he was unable to stop him. Just as it seemed like they had lost, Ho-oh suddenly called the battle off, stating that they didn't necessarily need to win the battle to earn his respect.

After healing Luke's team, Ho-oh gave them a Rainbow Feather that they could use to call upon him at any time, but advised them to only use it under the most dire of circumstances, before departing for parts unknown.

Feeling rather confident now that they had the respect of a legendary, Luke, Lake and the rest of the team made their way to the Pokémon League. After defeating the Elite Four, they came face to face with Lance. Down to their last Pokémon, Luke sent out Lake, who managed to barely win against Lance's final Pokémon and earn them the title of Johto League Champions, as well a place in the Hall of Fame.

(More to be added.)

Achievements

  • Beat the Johto League with the rest of Luke's Team, earning him a place in the Hall of Fame.
  • Has battled against Red and won. TWICE.
  • Won several battles in the Gold Conference with Luke, before their loss to Tagg.
  • Battled Ho-oh twice, managing to win against him the second time with the help of Nadia. Although Ho-oh may have been holding himself back deliberately to give them a chance of winning.
