Grohl (Kim)

Grohl is Kimberly Bond's Ampharos, and the nineteenth Pokemon that she caught on her journey.

Personality

Kim has often compared Grohl to 9-Volt (Colton) and Ian (PC), and in both cases, it's not that hard to see where the comparisons stem from. Grohl shares the former's excitability and naivete- even if he's a lot less naive than 9-Volt is- and the latter's kindheartedness and love of his Trainer, friends, family, and fellow team members. This was best shown in the Glimwood Tangle, when, upon being faced with the Morgrem and Galarian Rapidash duo, he was initially excited about meeting new Pokemon he had never seen before and asked them if he wanted to touch his wool. However, the second he realized their true intentions, he didn't hesitate to defend his friends and paralyze the Galarian Rapidash for trying to attack Hatty. Grohl is also a naturally friendly Pokemon, happily greeting everybody he meets and getting panicked if he accidentally hurts them in any way. This especially applies to Kim's Pokemon and specifically Freddie; after Grohl accidentally shocked Freddie and caused him to start panicking, he profusely apologized. Grohl can also be easily distracted at times, which was shown repeatedly when he was a Mareep. In fact, the distractedness led directly to his capture-- he wandered off absentmindedly from his parents and siblings, got picked up by the wind, and landed in Galar, surrounded by unfamiliar Pokemon who were confused as to why he was there.

Grohl is the only member of Kimberly Bond's team thus far to have a confirmed family prior to capture. He used to live at the Floccessy Ranch with his parents, Cobain and Courtney, and his brother, Hawkins. Based on their interactions at the Floccessy Ranch, the four of them seem to share a very strong bond with one another-- as soon as Grohl realized he was separated from his family, he cried out for help, which led to Kim, Paul (Kim), and Strummer finding him. Once he was reunited with his family, he happily ran up to them and greeted them, and when they approved of him being caught by a Trainer, he thanked them profusely. His family, likewise, have a very strong bond with Grohl, but are shown to be a bit absentminded sometimes themselves-- they initially pronounced their son's name as "Growl" until Kim corrected them. It's implied that this bond with Grohl's family is the reason why Grohl is so friendly towards other people and Pokemon, as Grohl knows Return- a move that gets stronger the more the user likes its Trainer- as well as Discharge- a move that Mareep don't learn until Level 28. As such, it can also be implied that Grohl's family battled with him, or put him into battles in order to allow him to get stronger, which explains why Grohl evolved into a Flaaffy- and later, an Ampharos- so quickly.

I ASSUME THAT SAID FAMILY TAUGHT GROHL HOW TO BATTLE, AND HAVE BATTLED WITH HIM MULTIPLE TIMES. THEY WERE ALSO THE ONES THAT NAMED GROHL, WHICH I FIND RATHER INTERESTING..."

Trivia

• Grohl is named after Dave Grohl, lead singer and guitarist for the Foo Fighters and former drummer of Nirvana. He originally was supposed to be named Cobain, after Kurt Cobain- the lead singer of Nirvana. However, the name was changed because Goldenheart388 liked the Foo Fighters more, although the Nirvana theme is still implied due to Dave Grohl's initial involvement with Nirvana. The name "Cobain" was later given to Grohl's father. Likewise, his mother, Courtney, was named after Courtney Love, lead singer of Hole, whom Kurt Cobain was in a relationship with. His brother, Hawkins, was named after Taylor Hawkins, the drummer of the Foo Fighters.
• Grohl's chat handle is foralltheMareep, a pun on the Foo Fighters song "For All the Cows", and his Hasslemon handle, according to Goldenheart388, is gutteralNirvana (GN). While the handle is a pun on Nirvana, it was also the first Hasslemon handle of Kim's mons to be selected by a Pesterchum generator, and not coined by Goldenheart388 directly.
• According to Goldenheart388, Grohl's character theme is "Times Like These" by The Foo Fighters, and his Broadway character theme is "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" from the musical of the same name.
• Grohl is the first member of Kim's team that she met in the Galar region that was not caught in the Galar region, being instead caught in Unova's Floccessy Ranch.
