Ian is a Pokémon Trainer from the Unova Region who is always looking for adventure. He's an unofficial member of the legendary J-Team. His goal is to be the greatest Pokémon Trainer that he can be.

Appearance

Ian is a kid with dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. He is 4'11" tall, likes to wear striped shirts (usually with blue stripes) and shorts, because they're comfy and easy to wear and he often wears red sneakers.

As Ian the Pikipek

When Ian raises the arm his Xtransceiver is on and shouts the phrase "Bird Go!", he transforms, in a flash of light, into his superhero-in-training form, Ian the Pikipek. Ian sewed the costume himself using fabric he bought from Ersatz Alliance, in pink, red and blue sewed together with Kevlar due to its protective properties. The costume comes with a cape made to look like a bird's wings when opened and a helmet with a gold-tinted visor designed to look like a Pikipek's beak.

As a Magical Boy

When Ian presses the heart-shaped button in the middle of his Sparkle Tap and shouts the phrase "Loving Melody Charge!", he transforms, in a flash of light and a storm of flower petals, into a Magical Boy. His hair and eyes both turn pink as he puts on a pink beret-like hat, a red ribbon, a bright blue sash around his waist, and a pink Magical uniform. Like with his Ian the Pikipek form, he sewed the costume himself using fabric he bought from Ersatz Alliance. He designed the costume with cuteness and fighting evil in mind.

Personality

Ian is an optimistic and fun-loving child who is also a bit of a prankster. He has a bit of a sweet tooth and is always seeking new adventures.

History

Backstory

Born and raised in Nuvema Town, Ian was always kind and caring towards other people and Pokémon. His philosophy was "Always be Kind to those around you, and you can't go wrong!" Ian also loved to explore. He was always proud of his sense of adventure.

One day at Pokémon Trainer School, Ian and his class were all assigned their own Pokémon Egg to tend to and raise until it's time for them to set out on their journey. Ian took his Egg home with him and cared for it every day as best as he could. When the Egg hatched, Ian and his family were the first to see it. Ian's Pokémon Egg hatched into an adorable Pichu, which Ian nicknamed Piku-chan. Ian had cared for the young Piku-chan since then, protecting him from those who would do him harm.

One day, on a trip to the Kanto Region, between the events of the Kalos Arc and the events of the Ranger-2 Arc (About age 8), he made some new friends, and on a dare, he snuck in to Team Rocket's Headquarters. After a few minutes of sneaking around, he was spotted by one of the Team Rocket Grunts, who went over to see who was there. Upon seeing that it was Ian, the Grunt grabbed him by the arm, causing the young trainer to panic. Ian then kicked the Grunt in the groin, causing the Grunt to let go, giving Ian his chance to escape. "Note to self: When someone dares you to sneak in to an evil organizations headquarters, just say no." He told himself immediately after the stunt.

When he turned 10, he received his Starter Pokémon from Professor Juniper, an Oshawott. Ian's mother suggested that Ian nickname the Oshawott "Oshawittle", which he did. He then took Piku-chan, whom, thanks to Ian's friendship and care, had evolved into a Pikachu, with him, received his Pokédex and started his adventure!

After he defeated the Castelia City Gym, his Mother gave Ian a Pokémon Egg that she found, of which Ian accepted. Like with the Egg that contained Piku-chan, he cared for the Egg as best as he could until it hatched into a Larvesta, which was considered to be a rare Pokémon. Ian then named the Larvesta "Mothra", after one of his favorite movie monsters, who had been known to care for all life in the Pokémon World and wouldn't hesitate to attack those who would threaten the World or her family.

On his way to Opelucid City, he ran into a wild Ralts. Ian could tell that the Pokémon was very shy and tried to calm it down. The Ralts took a liking to him and began following Ian. Ian then gave the Ralts one of his Poké Balls, which the Ralts happily climbed into. Ian then nicknamed the Ralts "Raru".

In Search of the J-Team

On Ian's trip through Kanto, he runs into a Team Rocket Grunt who tries to steal a guy's shoes. Ian confronts the Grunt and wins, forcing the grunt to give up his Boot. Ian contemplates the mysteries of the boot as he is on his way to the Pokémon Center, when suddenly he runs into a Punk Girl named Nana, who heals Ian's Oshawott for him. Ian and Nana then exchange numbers so they can keep in touch and Ian sets off. On his way to Saffron City, he finds a newsstand run by Ever, who sells Ian a newspaper of the time the J-Team fought a 50 ft. tall tortilla on Dewford Island. This newspaper sparks Ian's interest in the J-Team, and he begins his quest to find them and join their ranks. Ian heard from Ever that there might be some J-Teamers in Vermilion City, so Ian decides to go there. After watching a rerun of an episode of the J-Team TV Show, Ian sets off for Vermilion.

On his way to Vermilion City, he almost gets run over by a Pokémon Trainer on a motorcycle, who introduces himself as Milagros. Milagros and Ian become friends and Oshawittle falls in love with Milagros' Vespiquen, Dot. As Ian and Milagros head off to Vermilion together, they see someone fall out of a tree with their Gardevoir. After climbing the tree that the girl (named Cady) fell out of, he and Milagros arrived at Ersatz Alliance. There, Ian found a pink scarf that turned him into a Ralts. After Oshawittle picked a fight with Milagros' Persian, Baby Cat, and Absol, Blitz, Ian, Raru and Cady's Gardevoir, Cecelia, calm the squabbling Pokémon with the use of Hypnosis. Ian then goes to buy his scarf, when he is suddenly challenged to a game of Arceuszilla sized Jenga for the scarf, which Ian wins. Ian then returns to Ersatz Alliance to buy some fabrics for a costume he was working on.

When Ian and Milagros leave Ersatz Alliance, they notice that Milagros' bike was vandalized, so the two split up so Ian can work on his costume while Milagros tries to find who damaged his bike as soon as they arrive in Vermilion City. Once Ian completes his costume, he notices that Milagros looks like a wreck, so he follows Milagros to the alley where they find two Team Skull Grunts. Ian and Milagros challenge the grunts and win. Once the two trainers get the bike fixed by Rourke, Ian runs into Ever again, and Ian asks where the best place to find new Pokémon to befriend is. Ian heads off to Fuschia City as per Ever's recommendation...

On his way to Fuschia City, he runs into a Snorlax, which squashes him and Piku-chan flat. They then meet a travelling cowboy named Des who helps Ian with the Snorlax. Ian and Des have a battle to prove if Ian is worthy of befriending the Snorlax. He and Oshawittle prove to be a great team and Des allows Ian to catch the Snorlax, which he later names Totoro. Ian and Des part ways when they arrive in Fuchsia City, however they both know that they'll meet again.

In Fuchsia City, Ian explores the Kanto Safari Zone where he meets several of his Pokémon, like Miyako, Flap, Romie, Julie, Fluff and Joy. Ian then heads off on his Kanto Gym Challenge, where he meets Brock, challenges him for the Boulder Badge, and wins.

On his way to Cerulean City, he meets a Pokémon Trainer named Bastion, who was on the run from a criminal group who hated Weremons known as The Nameless, and the two joined forces to fight the Nameless. As they tracked the Nameless through the caves of Mt. Moon, Bastion and Ian get caught in the traps set by a female Pikachu and a Furret who used to belong to another trainer who was on the Nameless' trail, but died before the trainer could capture the criminal group. Ian and Bastion assist the two Pokémon in their deceased trainer's quest to stop the Nameless. On Route 4, Ian and Bastion, along with the Pikachu and Furret, now known as Piper and Misango, confront the Nameless and finally succeed in capturing them. Ian then challenges Misty for the Cascade Badge and wins.

Upon winning, Ian shows Bastion the very tree that first led Ian to Ersatz Alliance, where he got his scarf from. Suddenly, Ian sees that Bastion had run into a trainer named Silversmith who didn't want Bastion to buy a scarf. After a powerful speech by Ian in his Ralts form, Silversmith turns around and begins to leave. After Ian calms Silversmith down, Silversmith invites him for Castelia Cones, which Ian accepts. Ian gets some Castelia Cones (and by some, Ian meant a dozen, but the Castelia Cone seller gave him 15 for the price of 12.) Ian gave one to Silversmith and another to Sephy before heading back to Kanto through Ersatz Alliance, but not before meeting a Froslass whom he befriends and names Yuki.

The Lights Went Out On Kanto

When Ian returned to the Kanto region after his Castelia Cone run with Silversmith, he noticed that the region was a little darker than he last remembered. He went to Mt. Moon to investigate, and suddenly noticed several other trainers gathered outside. Ian recognizes several of them as people he had met on his journey and with Des' assistance, comes to the realization that he is among members of the J-Team. Ian went with the J-Teamers to the depths of Mt. Moon, where Necrozma was hiding. A great battle begins between the J-Teamers and Necrozma. Ian tries his best to contribute to the battle, and heartbrokenly withdraws Raru when the attempts to use hypnosis on Necrozma fail. Ian continues to fight his hardest along with the J-Team, when suddenly, Raru bursts from his ball with a new power, Lucky Chant! When the J-Team defeat Necrozma, they learn of Necrozma's plight, and Ian promises that he'll do what he can to help Necrozma.

The Journey Continues

After the battle, Ian continues his Gym Challenge, after an encounter with a strange pink gem that hypnotizes him and a meeting with Priscilla Kwan and her brother, Henry Kwan who save him from his entrancement on April Fools Day. Ian challenges Lt. Surge to a battle at his Gym and wins. Ian then contacts Priscilla upon noting that the gem that entranced him on April Fools Day looks like a normal Rose Quartz. Priscilla brings Ian onto the Stormchaser to discuss the gem.

Raiders of Macraul Manor

While Ian waited for the results of the gem testing, he receives a text from Merlin, who calls the J-Team into the Stormchaser's Gym and tells them about a raid on Macraul Manor to retrieve an Ultranecrozium-Z crystal that belonged to Voyd. There, Ian met a man named Reynard Albright, whom Ian referred to as "Grandpa Reynard" out of respect. Ian volunteered to use his backpack to sneak the J-Teamers into the manor. He trained his stealth as Ian the Pikipek so he could help the J-Team get the Z-Crystal. Ian ran into Des and eventually, the two were noticed by a female Macraul who went by the name "Sylvestra". Ian blushed for a split second, but brought himself back to his senses and he and Des tried to flirt with Sylvestra, failing to realize that her husband, David...

...was right behind them...

Upon realizing their predicament, Ian left Des to deal with the Macrauls who noticed them. Ian and Des soon found the collection room where the Ultranecrozium-Z was. The two then retrieved the crystal and escaped with Merlin to Lumiose City. The raid had been a success, until Ian and the rest of the J-Team were almost blown to the Distortion World by a Weezing's Explosion. The Weezing's trainer, Izaya Orihara, stole the Z-Crystal from the weakened J-Team and kidnapped Merlin. Ian tried to give chase, but it was too late. Ian fell to the floor and began to worry about Merlin. After some encouraging words from Des, Ian gets back up on his own two feet and lets out a yell of "YOU'RE GOING TO PAY!" before he decided to head back to Nuvema Town.

"I need a break."

Ian arrives in White Forest on his way back to Nuvema Town via Ersatz Alliance. Ian decides to explore White Forest when it suddenly started getting foggy and a strange melody was heard. Ian went to check where the melody was coming from, and saw the Mythical Pokémon, Meloetta sitting on a log. Ian sat next to Meloetta and listened to her sing. Then, Meloetta revealed to Ian that he had the soft song of psychic power in him and told him that something was coming and that Meloetta did not know what it was or when it would arrive. Ian assured the Muse that even if he wasn't ready to face it, he would stand and face it regardless. As the fog disappeared and Meloetta with it, Ian looked around. Ian knew what he had to do and headed to Nacrene City so he could study the powers he had the potential to use. Before he could head off to Nacrene City, he receives a J-Text from Neon stating that he needed help. Ian stops by Nacrene City's Library trying to find something that will help him in training his psychic powers, only to find that the library in question has no books on what Ian is looking for. Upon arriving on the Stormchaser, Ian meets with Neon, the one who sent the J-Text, and the two go to J-Con to search high and low for Petey, a monochromatic Alolan Raichu and friend of Neon who was pokénapped by a glitchy shape-shifter named Kolemm. Many other members of the J-Team were at the J-Con and stepped into what was supposed to be a trap set by Kolemm and a fight begun. Ian arrived later into the fight after trying to get Priscilla's ex-boyfriend away from the battle. As the battle raged on, Ian noticed someone calling on Aurics, Psychics and Obscurics for a powerful finishing move. Ian gave his Psychic abilities, as untrained as they were, to the wizard so he could defeat Kolemm. After the attack landed and Kolemm was defeated, Ian regained his Psychic powers and bore witness to the wizard collapsing. Ian quickly called for medical attention as a Ninetales wrapped her tails around the weakened wizard for him to use as a blanket. Ian introduced himself to the Ninetales and as he realized the name of the Ninetales, he bowed with great respect and said that it was nice to meet her in [Japanese], only to realize that she wasn't actually the Sun Goddess. Ian then says something that, to Amaterasu's trainer, sounded like he was flirting with her and gets caught in Colton's Legendary Facepalm, which drives him upside-down into a wall. After pulling himself free from the wall, the paramedics arrive and take the wizard and a concerned Amaterasu to the hospital. After all is said and done, Ian and Piku-chan explore the J-Con (which is noted to be Ian's first J-Con), sampling a slice of cake Piku-chan obtained for him, taking some photos to show Mom, and eventually head home...

Home Sweet Home

After everything that had happened at Macraul Manor and J-Con, Ian finally returns home to Nuvema Town. His Mother had been waiting for him to return and tell her all about his adventure. After which, Ian heads upstairs to play video games before going to bed. Ian hooked up his old NES to play [MOTHER] for a while. After he played for a while, he faceplanted into bed and went to sleep...

The Journey Starts Back Up Again

When Ian woke up the next morning, he and Piku-chan decided to go out and do some exploring before heading back to Kanto to continue his Gym Challenge, so he goes off to Accumula Town, only to find that it has been overrun by Furret! One of the Furrets was sitting on Ian's head as hundreds of other Furret walk about town. Ian befriends the Furret on his head and asks it what he should nickname the Long Body Pokémon. Eventually, the Furret was nicknamed Floof, and stays with Ian as the hundreds of other Furret walk back to the forest. After that, Ian decided to practice using his Psychic powers by attempting to use Telekinesis on Piku-chan. It works, only for Ian to celebrate too soon and throw Piku-chan into the air. A cadre of police officers and Accumula Town's Officer Jenny notice the flying Piku-chan and ask Ian about it. Ian answers their questions honestly and the officers save Piku-chan from falling. After bouncing off the life net and zapping Ian with Thunderbolt, Piku-chan lands safely. Ian salutes the police officers and the cadre leaves. However, just as they leave...

The Contract

A mysterious shadow looms over Ian and Piku-chan, scaring them. However, as they look down, they notice a Floette with a red flower casting the ominous shadow. The Floette introduces herself and tells Ian and Piku-chan that something big was coming and that she didn't know what it was, but that she knows that the world needs Magical Girls to protect it. Ian tells the Floette that he's a boy, but the Floette asks him if that has ever stopped anyone and tells him that he can become a Magical Boy if he signs a contract. Ian signs the contract using his lucky pen, the Floette gives him an address to meet at and flies off, knowing that they will meet again. Ian and Piku-chan then head off to Jubilife City, where he meets with other Magical Candidates and Floette at a nightclub called "The Fox's Wedding", run by Floette's employer, Tamamo-no-mae. There, Ian and the other Magical Candidates learn the story of a powerful glitch known as "Seimei", of whom Lady Tamamo refers to as "Yamato-no-Orochi". Ian accepts the risk of becoming Magical and sews his own costume, which he designed to be bright, cheerful and fluffy. After obtaining his Transformation Trinket, The Sparkle Tap, Ian leaves the Nightclub and sets off on his journey once again.

Raid on the Ultra Plant Base

After learning of what he must do as a Magical Boy, Ian receives a J-Text with details involving a raid on two bases belonging to the Mobius Society, one of which is in the Ultra Plant and the other is in an Alternate Universe. Ian answers the call, arrives at the Stormchaser and heads through the portal leading to the Ultra Plant. As Ian heads to the Mobius base with the J-Team, he meets up again with Des, learning that Des used to work for the Mobius Society. Upon entering the base, Ian encounters a Shadow Mimikyu that they had to fight! Ian leaves Piku-chan with Mezzo, Fortis and Pianis to fight Pride so he can scout ahead. Eventually, he hears what sounds to him like circus music and finds the room where it is coming from. There, he and some other J-Teamers encounter a strange Blacephalon, called "Jevil". Jevil then throws a molotov cocktail at the team and a fight commences. Ian and Raru attempt to subdue Jevil with Pirouettes and Hypnosis attacks as everyone else attacks. As Jevil prepares his Final Chaos attack, Mind Blown, Ian huddles with his Pokémon and wishes that Piku-chan could come and help him. Piku-chan's ear perks as he feels that his trainer is in danger and rushes in to protect him. As Jevil unleashes his Final Chaos, Ian and Piku-chan do all they can to protect everyone from the falling pieces of the ceiling. As Jevil fell asleep for the next 100 years, Ian admitted that he enjoyed the fight and thought that Jevil and the J-Team should battle more often. Just as the battle with Jevil ends, the Ultra Plant Base gets attacked by giant Xurkitree, prompting Ian to escape with the rest of the J-Team. After successfully escaping the Ultra Plant, Ian watches the fireworks, thinking about continuing his solo journey...

First Appearance

Ian made his debut in We Are All Pokémon Trainers: Page 21981, where he walks into Celadon City's Pokémon Center while contemplating the mysteries of a boot he won from a Team Rocket Grunt during his Sign-Up Test, when suddenly he passes by Nana Ikaika, a Punk Girl sitting on a bench eating banana nut muffins. He then does a double-take to say hello. After Ian and Nana put their Xtransceiver numbers into each other's Xtransceivers, Ian heads off to find his next adventure, as if winning a boot from a Team Rocket Grunt wasn't crazy enough...
